Early life

Sabrina Annlynn Carpenter was born on May 11, 1999, in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, and raised in East Greenville. She is the youngest of four siblings and the niece of actress Nancy Cartwright. Sabrina was homeschooled, which allowed her to focus on her passion for music.
At just 10 years old, she started posting videos of herself singing Christina Aguilera and Adele songs on YouTube. Her talent quickly became evident, and her father even built her a home recording studio to support her dreams. In 2009, she competed in The Next Miley Cyrus Project, a singing contest hosted by Miley Cyrus, and finished in third place.
Career
2011–2014: Breakthrough with Disney

Sabrina Carpenter’s acting career began in 2011 with a guest role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Around the same time, she performed “Something’s Got a Hold on Me” at the Gold Mango Audience Festival in China.

In 2012, she had a recurring role on the Fox sitcom The Goodwin Games and appeared in the film Horns (2013). She also recorded “Smile” for the Disney Fairies compilation album Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust, which was featured on Radio Disney. Additionally, she voiced Princess Vivian in Sofia the First and sang “All You Need” with Ariel Winter.

In 2013, Sabrina was cast as Maya Hart in the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World, a spin-off of Boy Meets World. The show ran for 72 episodes and concluded in January 2017.
