Vijay Deverakonda was born in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh (now Telangana) to Govardhan Rao and Madhavi. His family roots trace back to Thummanpeta village in the former Mahbubnagar district (now Nagarkurnool). His father, a television serial director, eventually stopped due to limited success.
His early education took place at Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School in Puttaparthi until the 10th standard. Later, he pursued his Intermediate studies at Little Flower Junior College in Hyderabad. Graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Badruka College of Commerce & Arts, he also has a younger brother, Anand Devarakonda, who is also active in Telugu cinema.

Deverakonda began his career with the romantic comedy “Nuvvila” (2011), directed by Ravi Babu. He had a minor role in Sekhar Kammula’s “Life is Beautiful” (2012). His entry into Nag Ashwin’s radar led to a supporting role in the 2015 film “Yevade Subramanyam,” alongside actor Nani.
